Interest in hexagonal rare-earth manganites stems from the coexistence and possible coupling of magnetic and ferroelectric properties in such phases. Manganites with the small rare-earths including and beyond holmium, LnMnO3 (Ln=Ho-Lu and Y), were prepared at low temperature (<350 oC) and pressure (< 55 atm), and the experimental parameters (pH, temperature, etc.) conducive to the hydrothermal preparation of such
oxides were explored.
